  • A composite bar, made up of aluminum and steel is held b/w 2 supports. The bars are stress free @ a temperature of 40°c. What will be the stress in the 2 bars when the temperature is 20°c if;
    1) the supports are non yeilding.
    2) the supports come nearer by 0.1mm. It can be assumed that change of temperature is uniform, all along the length of the bar.
    E(steel) = 210GN/m², E(aluminum)= 74GN/m²
