can we increase the height of a column which is casted a day before.
Eg: Total ht of column is 4.2m....
We are casting 2.4m today and can we cast the remaining 1.8m next day itself??

There aren't any written rules for time gap between lift of Column. The concrete makes its own rules in terms of setting and hardening time solely depnds on Mix design and additives used mainly Fly Ash/GGBS and Plasticizer. In general terms and on the basis of my work experience we are doing 2nd Lift after 24 hours though proper care should be taken at Construction joint where You can use SBR Lates or Cement slurry for the proper bonding.

Yes, you can provided the earlier concreted column has a hard set that can be field-tested using a hacking tool (TANCHA).
