Can some one explain about anti termite treatment process and mixing ratio of chlorpyrifos 20 EC chemical.

Hi Ashok,

Termite Prevention and Control Methods

Please find here attached the following documents for your kind information and records.

1) Termite Prevention and Control Methods .
2) Method statement for Anti-Termite treatment.

Chlorpyrifos Emulsifiable Concentrates
Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphate insecticide which is generally used as an Anti-Termite agent in building construction. It has a slightly skunky odor, like rotten eggs or garlic and it can also be used to control many different kinds of pests, including termites, mosquitoes, and roundworms and is generally manufactured to contain 20 percent m/m and 50 percent m/m of chlorpyrifos. It is moderately toxic to humans, and exposure has been linked to neurological effects, persistent developmental disorders and autoimmune disorders.

The specification for Chlorpyrifos Emulsifiable Concentrates shall conform to IS 8944: 2005 and are as given below:

  1. Requirements:
    1. Constituents:
    2. The material shall consist of chlorpyrifos, technical dissolved in suitable solvent(s) together with emulsifying agent(s). Chlorpyrifos, technical employed in the manufacture of the material shall conform to IS 8963.
    3. Physical:
      1. Description- The material shall be homogeneous and stable liquid. Sediments and/or suspended matter shall be negligible. On dilution with water, it shall readily form an emulsion suitable for spray.
      2. Cold Test- No turbidity or separation of solid or oily matter or both shall occur when the material is subjected to the cold test at 10°C as prescribed in 13.1 of IS 6940 or any other lower temperature as agreed to between the purchaser and the supplier.
      3. Flash Point (Abel) - When determined by the method prescribed in IS 1448 [Part: 20], the flash point of the material shall be minimum 24.5ºC.
      4. ) Emulsion Stability- Any separation including creaming at the top and sedimentation at the bottom of 100 ml of emulsion prepared in standard hard water with 2.0 ml of EC shall not exceed 2.0 ml when tested by the method prescribed in 13.3 of IS 6940.
    4. Chemical:
      1. Chlorpyrifos Content- When determined by the method prescribed in Annex A or B of IS 8963, the observed chlorpyrifos content, percent (m/m), of any of the samples shall not differ from the declared nominal value by more than the percent tolerance limits given below:
        57.1.png

The actual value of chlorpyrifos content in formulation shall be calculated to the second decimal place and then rounded off to first decimal place before applying the tolerance limits.
      2. Acidity (as H2 S04) - When tested by the method prescribed in 11.3 of IS 6940, acidity (as H2 S04) shall be 0.05 percent by mass, Max.
  2. Tests:
  3. Tests shall be carried out by the appropriate methods referred to in the above headings: physical and chemical requirements. Quality of Reagents - Unless specified otherwise, pure chemicals and distilled water (see IS: 1070-1977) shall be employed in tests. NOTE - 'Pure chemicals' shall mean chemicals that do not contain impurities which affect the results of analysis.
Note- For more information, refer to IS 8944: 2005.
