Top reinforcement of edge beam should rest on the top reinforcement of the supporting beam running perpendicular to the edge beam.In your photo the detail is contrary to my above views, hence incorrect

The cantilever beam is supported on the column and the edge beam is supported on this cantilever beam. So logically if you think that if you want to support edge beam on cantilever the top bar of edge beam should be above the topbar of cantilever.

Yes that is the correct detailing & needs to be adhered to conceive the supporting by cantilever beam the edge beam
