ISO is International Organization for Standardization, it gives the certification for doing process standardization.

Doing the process standardization means, throughout the organization the processes implemented for doing any activity are same irrespective of its work location.

An ISO certification can be taken by standardizing all processes and it can be taken by any company. A Pan shop can also be an ISO certified Company provided its all processes of how to make pan are standardized in all its Pan shop and they are ensuring all process are followed by making proper documentation and records of each process.

In same way Mc Donalds can also have ISO certification for all its branches by following same process at each branch.

So there is nothing you get by knowing company is ISO certified or not, only it make sense for international market which states there all processes are standardized and defect level will be at lowest.

For manufacturing units in India you can look for ISI certification which is embossed on products which are made as per guidelines and specifications given in IS standards.
