How to treat expansion/ Construction joint while doing waterproofing treatment?

Method of Working:-
1. Identification of construction joint treatment area.
2.All Surfaces must be clean and sound to ensure good adhesion.
3.All loose traces of concrete or mortar, dust, grease, oil, etc. Must be removed.
4.Cutting ‘V’ shaped grove of size approx. 20mm wide and 12 mm deep along the construction joints with mechanical or manual chipping tools.
5.The areas to be repaired must be free from all unsound material.i.e .dust, oil, grease, corrosion by-products and organic growth.
6.Smooth surfaces should be roughened using hacking hammer with an amplitude of 5mm , all loose material and surface laitance removed.
7.Before rectification cement slurry should be applied.
8.Filling this groove of cement mortar 1:4 with water proofing chemical(conplast X 421 IC) 125 gms per bag of cement.
9.After 12 hours curing properly.

Construction joints can be treated as explained by @Rohith Rao
Before doing waterproofing, Pond test is very important test which is done on the concrete surface. in this test water is poured on the surface and stored by either making ponds in case of flat slab or by filling the sunk slab with water by closing drain cutouts.
when you find a leakage from the construction joint during pond test, the joint should be treated as explain above along with inserting sockets at interval.
pressure grouting of cement slurry should be done through those sockets to seal the joint from top to bottom to eliminate the leakage.
When treating the expansion joint, what really matter is the location of expansion joint, is it on the drive way or is it on the roof.
For roof locations, expansion joint need to be taken up and fold on one side where direct water can not enter into it. the location of expansion joint can be folded on other directions from rain direction.
For drive way, expansion joint need to be treated below the drive floor level and the cover strip need to be fixed on top of drive floor by screwing it on one side of expansion joint.
Expansion joints are live joints in structure and they at actual moves closer or wider base on movements in structure.
