Indian standard for Mild steel

Dear Sir,

Sail / Rinl / Tata / Jsw not supplying M.S bars/Flats/Angles less than 50 mm size.

IS 226 covers Fe 410 Mild steel use for structural work.

As I explained to client that Grill or M.S doors will not comes under structural steel because it is not transferring any loads.

Some one refers IS 2062/2011 and 2026/2011 and IS 226.

Which is a clear IS we can follow for chemical and physical properties for non structural MS bars/flats/Angles.

Kindly explain.

IS 226 is superseded and IS 2062 is for Structural steel Quality.

Still not clear that ordinary M.S bars like 10mm x10mm, Flats like 32mm x 8 mm and angles less than 50mm if it is not used as structural member (like balcony grills and grill gates), which physical and chemical properties should be considered?

IS 226 is replaced with IS 2062 so it is correct to refer.

Generally grade E250 quality A is refer for chemical and physical properties.

You can ask your supplier / manufacturer, about MS products manufactured are confirming to which IS codes and accordingly check the properties of it.
