Hello sir
What are the important things a junior planning engineer should know in MSP/ What qualities interviewer seek in fresh planning engineer candidate
The main job of a planning engineer is to DRIVE the project of course with consent of the Project- Incharge.
The PE needs to know all the aspects of construction from site lineout, excavation to final handing over stages. ( without this he cant plan a project )
The Planning Engineer needs to have a BIRDS EYEVIEW of the project as a whole.
The PE is required to carry out advanced level planning about day to day resources, materials required at site.
He has to organize smooth operations of the site by providing the schedule to the site engineer before the start of the month and reviewing it after the end of the month and prepare the MIS for management purview.
He needs to prepare project budget and monitor it on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly cash-flow summary and analysis basis.
Putting together a schedule based on quantities
Project tracking in terms of physical progress, financial parameters and provide suggestions for remedy in case project is getting delayed.
These are some of the points into consideration for a PLANNING ENGINEER.

In one word I would say that THE PLANNING ENGINEER IS THE "JAAN" OF A PROJECT.
