Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) is a mechanism to collect & store rain water for our normal everyday use.
Rain Water is essentially pure water before it falls, but can collect impurities like dust & sediments as it falls & flows on the earth surface.
It is possible to catch, filter & store the rain water by means of a RWH system.
Roofs of houses & buildings are ideal catchments for rain water.
RWH has the dual benefit of obtaining water from freely falling rain and also reduce the burden on storm water drains & thus contributes to less flooding.
I have attached, presentation on Rainwater Harvesting design methodology and structures, which includes following;
Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) Philosophy
Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) Design Methodology
Storage Medium - Key to RWH design
Ground as a Storage Tank
Good RWH System –Schematic
Underground Percolation System - Examples
Conventional Rain Water Filter concept
Improvised Rain Water Filter concept
