It totally depends on type of paint you are using. Also the number of coats and type of paint like plain of textured, you want to apply on the wall. It also depends whether you are painting for the first time or you are doing repainting and also where you are painting interior or exterior.

Number of coats depends upon the type of colour if you want the room to look dark, then number of coats will more or if you are happy with the lighter one then the number of coats will be lesser and thus it will save your cost on paint, labour etc., also it will save lot of your time.

First calculate the quantity of the wall you are going to pain then you can easily count the quantity of colour required for painting. On an average 100 sft of area requires around 4.2 ltrs of paint. It varies from paint to paint. As some paints have different thickness. So the result may vary.

For Interior Paint:-

Quantity of Colour :- Area of Colour (Total area divided by100) * 4.2

For Exterior Paint:-

Quantity of Colour :- Area of Colour (Total area divided by100) * 2.5

For example painting area is 1000 sft then enter only 100 in place of area.

You will get the exact amount of paint required.
