What is effective length of the beam

What is effective length of the beam
In my view, this is the definition of the effective length of a beam :
Center to center Length of the beam between the two columns.
To simplify :
Clear span of the beam plus half width of the columns on both sides.
Let's take a simple case.
Clear span of a beam is 5000mm.
Column size along the beam direction is 300mm for both the columns.
Effective length of the beam :
5000+300/2+300/2
=5000+150+150
= 5300mm.
Hope you're clear now with the basic

I think

If the beam is simply supported then effective length will be 5600 mm.

5300 mm is for fixed end.

If the beam is cantilever then 5450 mm (500 + 300 +150)

please correct if I am wrong
