What is the difference between dado and skirting in building construction?

Both are the same functionally.No difference. Normal height is 60 mm to 80mm from the bottom of the wall.
Skirting is more often than not around 6 inches high around floors and regularly made of same structure and material as that of the floors.Primarily to shield dividers day by day from floor cleaning and minor spillages on floors.
Dados are 4 feet or more in stature , in showers, WCs and in Staircases, on dividers, made of glazy materials like coated porcelain/vitrum tiles. In staircases, even engineered lacquer paints are additionally utilized. In staircases , dados shield the dividers from continuous human contacts and in Bath and W.C, it shields the put dividers from water sprinkles amid washing and showering.
