Which cement is best for concrete slab construction? OPC or PPC?

PPC has advantage when compared to OPC :
• Higher durability of concrete structure due to less permeability of water.
• More resistance towards the attack of alkalies, sulphates, chlorides, chemicals.
• Better work ability.
• Low heat of hydration.
• Due to high fineness, PPC has better cohesion with aggregates and makes more dense concreteness.
• Comparative lower Water-Cement ratio provides an added advantage for the further increase of compressive strength of the concrete.
• Better surface finish.
& Cost of PPC is less then OPC.
( Insted of PPC its better to go with OPC + Flyash up to 70:30 propertions for normal slabs i.e up to grade M30)

For Finishing works PPC is prefered.

Where the early strength is reqired OPC is prefered.

Opc more preferred bcz infrastructure fast growing...so ppc required more curing compared to opc..so progress fast than use opc

Generally in infra projects a higher grade & mass concrete is used by using OPC the heat of hydration will be higher which affects the durability of concrete( Cracks & high initial shrinkage). so by using FLYASH the initial heat of hydration & shrinkage can be reduced there by increasing the durablity.

OPC is not favorable in aggressive weather.

If you are concreting in low temperature conditions then OPC is prefered for early development of strength.
