Work Procedure for Gypsum Plaster Work

1. Objective:

This work procedure narrates the guidelines to be adopted for Gypsum Plaster works under Civil4M Office Project


2. Applicability:

This procedure is applicable to the Gypsum Plaster work in areas as shown on drawing.

BOQ.
Standard Specifications.
Drawings

4. Responsibility:

The Project Manager shall be responsible for the overall implementation of this procedure.

5. Safety Precautions:

Scaffolding & platform shall be checked for stability.

Use of PPE’s like goggles, hand gloves, helmet and dust mask.

Gypsum bags shall be stacked not more than 10 bags one above other.

6. Material’s, Equipment’s and Tools used:

Trays / buckets for mixing gypsum powder and water, measuring tape, masons trowel, finishing and leveling float, straight edge, plumb bob, right angle, line string, brush, damp sponge etc.

Material:

Gypsum powder of approved brand, bonding agent, cement and water, flexible mesh, u -nails etc.

Gypsum bags shall be stacked in identified areas over planks one feet away from walls.


7. Procedure:

Ensure that entire RCC surface to be plastered is hacked with chisel and hammer.

Start plaster from ceiling and work down towards floor.

RCC surface shall be cleaned thoroughly to remove dirt and grease if any.

Apply bonding coat to RCC surface (Flexi bond : Cement : Water) in ratio of (1:1:4) by weight.

Fixing flexible mesh at junctions of block masonry and RCC using u-nails.

Add dry Gypsum powder in water in ratio of (4:3) and mix thoroughly to prepare thick paste.

Provide level pads (thiyyas) at various levels and corners.

Spread gypsum paste in layers, and level using straight edge and plumb bob.

Average thickness of plaster shall be kept 10 mm.

Lightly scour the surface with damp sponge and protect for next 3 hrs.
