Civil4M gives access to communicate with all registered members of it from all around the globe. You can ask questions, share the knowledge by making new threads in relevant sections by clicking on Post Thread button
When you start a new discussion on a public forum, it termed as a "Thread". They are visible to all members and visitors of the websites
There are several ways to post messages on Civil4M. The first way is to scroll to the bottom of any thread and enter your message in the quick reply box.
To respond to a post directly you can "quote" the post by clicking the Reply link below the message.
To quote multiple posts, you can simply scroll to another post and click the reply button again. However, a quicker way to accomplish this is to use the multi-quote feature. This can be done by clicking the + Quote link on all the posts you'd wish to quote. Once you are ready to reply to these posts, scroll to the bottom and there should now be a "Insert Quotes" box below the editor box.
Click Insert Quotes - A overlay will pop up. Here you are able to rearrange or remove the posts before inserting them into your reply.
Another method of quoting a post(or Multi-Quoting it!) is to simply highlight text from a post. This will bring up an overlay that allows you to quote just the part of the message you have selected.
That covers replying to threads with text. Now lets go over how to add other elements into your messages.
To add a Smiley, click the happy face icon. This will display the Coli Smileys at the bottom of the editor. Also, note that there are different tabs of smileys.
To add an image, simply click the icon to the right of the smile, it looks like a landscape. Then you can paste the URL of the image you are trying to post.
We support a number of media sites you can use to embed video and other forms of media. To do so, click the filmstrip icon and then paste the link to your media.
There are a few other things you can insert into your post by clicking the Insert icon, which is located to the right of the filmstrip. Here you can add spoilers, strikethrough text, code boxes and quote codes.
There are some common features found in text editors, such as the ability to change font and color. They are pretty basic tools that you are likely familiar with.
“Double posting” occurs when a user makes two consecutive posts, one after another. If this is done for no apparent reason, “double posting” is typically frowned upon and may result in a warning or infraction for “spam”.
However, double-posting is not forbidden, and can be useful in many cases. For example, if a reasonable amount of time has passed or you have significant information to add to the topic, present it in a new post so that others, including thread subscribers, are made aware of the update.
Thread “bumping” is the practice of replying to a thread solely for the purpose of bringing attention to it. This is looked down upon and may result in an official warning or infraction for “spam” or “useless posts”. Your posts in a thread should contribute to the discussion or introduce new information in some way. Limited bumping is permitted in The Trading Post.
Threads are the lifeblood of any online forum, and keep the discussion fresh and moving forward. They also help logically segment and organize conversations in very useful ways. Sometimes, however, there may be confusion about when to start a new thread or reply to an existing one. As a general rule of thumb, if a thread has not received any replies in the past year, you should probably create a new one on the general topic unless you have something to contribute that is specific to the older conversation.
It has long been popular on Internet discussion boards to ridicule or embarrass users who may ask questions that could have easily been answered by searching the web or the forums. Indeed, many questions can be answered this way, and indeed, many users could make better use of the tools available to them. However, that is no reason to treat them with disrespect, as there is a wide and legitimate range of experience among users on the Internet. If you see someone on Civil4M asking what you believe to be a trivial question, suggest keywords or links or simply ignore their questions altogether. Do not harass them.
Sexual content is prohibited by Civil4M’s Acceptable Use Policy. This is an intentionally ambiguous term that is open to interpretation at the discretion of the staff. As a general rule, assume any body parts not “visible” or socially acceptable at the average public beach or pool may not be visible in any images or videos posted here. If you are concerned content you would like to post may be questionable, feel free to contact any staff member for advice or approval.
All messages must be posted in the English language, as specified in the Acceptable Use Policy. This requirement exists to make it easier for us to resolve any disputes and to understand all of the content transmitted via the site.
Conversations are private messages that can be sent to other members. They are easily accessed by hovering over Conversations in the navigation menu. This will display a list of recent conversations as well as links to Show All recent conversations and Start a New Conversation. Starting a conversation can also done by clicking on a members Avatar or name, which will bring up an overlay with several options.
You can send conversations to up to 5 people at a time. As the conversation starter you also have options to allow others to invite other members or lock the conversation.
You have a few other options once you open an existing conversation. "Leave Conversation" is basically like deleting your copy of the message, it will also offer you the opportunity to ignore further conversations from the other member in the conversation.
Private messages are stored in Civil4M’s database and may be read by site administrators. Although not heavily policed as the public areas of the forums, private messages must also adhere to the site’s Acceptable Use Policy and, if necessary, may be shared with other members of the staff. Warnings may be set to “expire” after a certain period of time. After expiration, they will no longer be counted, and your account, if previously banned, will be restored. Not all warnings carry infraction points.
All warnings are logged and can be reviewed by any member of the staff at any time. Information about disciplinary actions taken against a user is considered private and will not be released to other users or the public, and users can only view their own warning points.
You will be immediately notified of any warnings or infractions received via a private message. You can review all warnings and infractions under the “Warnings” tab of your forum profile page.
When a user is banned, they can no longer participate in the site community. If the banishment expires, they will be able to return using the site as normal.

All complaints will be reviewed, though you will not receive a reply unless further information is requested.
It happens quite a lot, somebody posted a question and doesn't get answers. Or he does get answers but not the ones he anticipated. This is very unfortunate. This is why we have compiled a list of items to watch for improving your posts.
A title like "help needed", "help me" doesn't tell the helpers much. It is obvious that help is needed, otherwise you wouldn't post a thread. If you include a descriptive title, then perhaps you will get more people to read your thread!
Addidng a more details regarding your question will help others to understand more about your question. Adding a photo along with description will help in getting answers at faster rate as this gives very much idea about what you are asking.
Usually, members can deduce the level of education from the post, but this is not always possible. It may very well happen that some people start talking over your head or start saying things that are obvious to you. The more general your question is, the more important it is to include some personal information about yourself. Also, if you know the answer to a problem, it helps to give that too!
