Is any one can explain the meaning of spandrel beam

Spandrel beams are load-bearing beams around the perimeter of a steel or concrete construction that extend from column to column.

I think the answer not is sufficient enough to clarify my doubt

When wall can not take weight of slab or floor , In such cases, the beams are provided exterior walls at each floor level to support the wall load and perhaps some roof load also , known as spandrel beam.

If a Projected balcony wall needs support at floor level, not from the footing.(For architectural elevation purpose)

For example, plinth beam can extended from main wall face/column face to support the self load of projected balcony wall is called spandrel beam.
