Excavation in different Type of soil

With the help of latest "good for construction" drawings, demarcation of the excavation area to be done.

Soil investigation report to be studies and available on site.

TBM to be established at permanent structure or wall or Pillar to be made at the location ,were it can’t be damaged by any means.

Location of Stock-pile of excavated soil to finalised in logistic plan and marked on site. From this location, backfilled soil and contaminated / backfilled soil to be carted away and good soil to be stockpiled separately, for backfilling, post foundation works.

Access routes to be strategically finalised phase-wise and marked on the logistic plan and physically on the site.

Existing trees to be removed or transplanted, after identifying from DP plan and permission to be taken from the relevant government body.

Feasibility for deploying types of excavation machineries required and planned accordingly.

As the footprint area is sufficient and depth of excavation is more than 4m, proper arrangement for machinery to go down in the excavation pit to be done. For example: steps on soil or soil ramp to be developed. Ramps may be required at multiple locations, depending on the logistic plan and development strategy.

Safety measures required for the neighbouring construction activities or existing structures to be taken. This can be done, in the locations, were, enough space is not available. For example: shoring, sturting, micropiling, etc.

All the requirements for dewatering to be done at all stages of excavation. Dewatering system to be established and implemented. Proper pumping system to be adopted and location of the sump to be as per the discharge points (SWD / Public Drainage) taking approval from government authority.

Consultant and Soil expert to inspect the site before commencement of works.

If excavation is beyond 1.25m, steps to be provided.

Proper shoring and strutting been done in loose soils, in case of adjoining structures, deep excavation.

At places, bund or stone pitching could be required.

The Depth indicator pole to be installed, to monitor the depth of excavation or can be monitors through level instruments, like autolevel,Total station, etc.

In case blasting is necessary, is it being carried out by a certified, licensed contractor

In case of hard rock, breaking to be done with big excavator or rock dis-integration by chemical method or diamond cutting or other mechanical means.

Topography of hard rock bed / surface, being uneven, rock or hard murrum level may vary, thus the above points to be followed in all types of soil.
