I have a Concrete mix proportion of 1:2:4 with me at my construction project.
How i can calculate quantity of water to be added in produced concrete mixes?

Quantity of the water is dependent of workability requirement.

If you go on higher water cement ratio, it will increase the workability but will affect the strength of the concrete.

Before doing actual production, the trials need to be conducted for ensuring achieving the strength at desired workablity.

If the strength is not achieved for desired workability, water cement ratio need to be lower further by introducing admixture in concrete.

Normally a Nominal mixes has very high cement content which makes national wastage of cement and gives you desired workability.

You can do concrete with W/C ration of 0.38 to 0.44 safely in above case, but it is better to do trial first before doing actual production of concrete.
