Dear all Respected Senior/Junior,

How to do physical Load Test on structural member(Slab), when the strength of the test specimen fall below the required strength and is not acceptable as per 'Acceptance Criteria' of IS 456, even strength fall below after Rebound Hammer Test result.

Thanks.

Decision of doing load test is taken by structural consultant only and after reviewing all results indications of various reports such as cube test report, NDT test reports and physical inspection report by structural engineer.

this is a last step to verify the structural parameters of the casted element.

The load test procedure need to be done as per the instruction and steps given by structural consultant.

In this test the deflection under load is measured with a gauges which are installed on the member to record the deflection under loads.

Process
Install the gauges to record deflection and set it to Zero
Fill the empty cement bags with aggregates and make the bag as 50 or 40 Kg.
As per the plan given by structural engineer, place the filled bags on top of the structure.
Record the Deflections.
Inspect the visual indications in structure such as cracking.

After the test, structural engineer will do examine the structure which is under doubt and deflection values.
After completing his assessment, he will finally give a report on either to keep it or break it apart.

Load test should be done under presence of structural engineer only to ensure correct process and no damages to other components.
