Junior Engineer Duties and Responsibilities
Have tried to summarize the JUNIOR ENGINEERS duties and responsibilities as far as possible, some points may have skipped past, in case anyone wants to add to this list they are welcome as only we ENGINEERS will benefit:- The first and foremost quality of a junior engineer is that he should be able to read and decipher all the technical drawings which includes architectural, structural, mep drawings etc.
- After going through the drawings, he should first come out with the errors if any which could be dimensions, nomenclature etc and need to be rectified.
- Third on the list would be that he should start quantifying the quantities of works from excavation to finishing works, bar bending schedule, etc.
- He should be conversant enough to study the electrical, plumbing, and or any MEP related services drawings and come out with queries if any with his senior engineer.
- He should be able to supervise all the activities related to the construction of the project.
- He has to coordinate with different contractors, agencies, and supervisors for the smoother function of the project.
- Workout the different requirements of materials for the construction. Viz theoretical and practical consumptions.
- Prepare the detailed schedule of the works of construction and get it approved from his senior engineer for further action.
- Prepare the indents for different material requirements for the project.
- After receipt of material, he has to conduct the quality checks and accept or reject the material based on quality parameters set out by the company.
- Communicate necessary information/instructions to supervisors and departmental workers.
- Prepare and submit daily progress report, monthly progress reports, consumption reports with coordination with the stores and site team.
- Assist the senior engineer in checking and certifying the various contractor's bills
- Discuss with the senior engineer the technical problems, execution difficulties.
- Junior engineers should be able to successfully perform mathematical and physical calculations under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- He shall be actively involved in project planning and plan all his activities in advance.
