Applications are invited for two posts of RESEARCH ASSITANT on a temporary basis for assistance in development of signal processing electronics, ground check out system and data reduction software of the POLIX instrument at the Raman Research Institute for a period of one year/ extendable up to two years. POLIX is an X-ray polarimeter instrument for astronomical observations that will be launched on an ISRO satellite named XPoSat.

We seek motivated individuals with good academic background with an aptitude to instrument/software development. The details of the required qualifications and experience are given below:

Job Description:

The job would involve participation in design, development and tests of the electronics system, ground checkout system, and data reduction software for the POLIX instrument (see details of POLIX in http://www.rri.res.in/~bpaul/polix.html). The candidates will also be required to participate in the integration, performance verification, calibration and qualification of the POLIX payload for space launch and space environment tests.

Remuneration:

A consolidated remuneration of Rs. 23,000/- per month + HRA (24% of consolidated remuneration).

Essential Qualification:

BE/BTech in Electrical / Electronics

Desirable:

Experience in any of
i) card level / component level hardware testing,
ii) development and handling computer-based data acquisition systems,
iii) software development in C++, Fortran either as part of the curriculum or as work experience would be an added advantage.

Upper Age Limit:

The upper age limit is 30 years as on the last date for closing of applications.

The last date for receipt of applications is 17th November, 2018. Applications received after the last date will not be considered.


General Information:

(i) Age relaxation will be applicable as per Govt., of India rules for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories.
(ii) The institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for test/ interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of relevant qualification and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
(iii) Candidate should be self-driven, motivated and have leadership skills.
(iv) Mere fulfilling the essential and desired qualifications will not entitle an applicant to be called for interview.
(v) Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for a personal interview at the Raman Research Institute. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interviews.
(vi) The institute reserves the right to relax any of the above requirements in exceptional cases. (vii) The Institute reserves the right not to fill the post herein advertised.
(viii) Canvassing in any form shall disqualify the candidate.
