What kinds of roofs block out the sound of rain?

Ideally if you are constructing a THATCHED ROOF then the sound of rain can be blocked. Further again it will depend on the materails you are using for the roof.
CLAY TILES, CONCRETE TILES, STONE TILES etc act as good sound barriers, however if you are using metallic roofs with less guage then it tends to become noisy, however you can use a sound dampner like a asphalt sheet etc to dampen the noise on a metal sheet roofing.
