White lining on the walls

Some white lining( when seen from a particular angle) has been seen in our room which is situated beside kitchen.
There is no leakage anywhere currently which can b detected.
Earlier there was a leakage in the washroom outlet.
The pictures has been attached nd the place is just below the window. These patches form a continuous line.
What can be the reason for this??

Such patches could occur when there is a dampness in the wall or when the lime use for doing plaster or putty was hydrated before application,
This mostly seen when sanla / neeru is used for finishing of cement mortar plaster on wall surfaces. Putty applied on wall surface could also lead to it.

If its a new construction, you should not worry about the patches as its not a big trouble but may cause wall look bad aesthetically over time. you can repair those portions along with other issues during the re-painting activity in couple of years.

White deposit on surface is associated with lime which comes on a surface just to react with water or moisture when lime is unhydrated and available in part of the wall.

There is possibility of water entering from a external window sill area during period of monsoon if it is finished with cement mortar.

May or may not cant say firmly on it.

If its due to faulty bag of neeru / sanla which was used during plaster, it will not create further impact on other wall surface area.

If its due to leak through external window sill area or rising dampness like thing from below floor tile, it all depends on the amount of flow of water and its further reach - the only remedy or preventing it from further spoiling is to seal the sources of water entrance into wall areas.
