Work Procedure for External Putty Work

1. Objective:
This work procedure narrates the guidelines to be adopted for External Putty works under Civil4M Office Project
2. Applicability:
This procedure is applicable to the External Putty work in areas as shown on drawing.

4. Responsibility:
The Project Manager shall be responsible for the overall implementation of this procedure.
5. Safety Precautions:
Ensure scaffolding is adequately braced with the permanent structure after erection.
Ensure that material handling shall be done in proper manner.
Use of PPE’s like safety belt, safety goggles, hand gloves, helmet and gumboots.
In case of eye contact, wash with plenty of water.
6. Material’s, Equipment’s and Tools used:
Putty powder (Shelf life 6 months), water, grinder or wire brush,
Putty blade, aluminum straight edge, sponge & painting brush.
MIXING:
Take clean water (20 liters) in a bucket and add one bag (40 kg) of putty powder to it and mix thoroughly for 10 minutes. Allow the mixture to stand
approximately for 10 minutes for powder to dissolve. Mix again and then paste is ready for application. (Pot life of paste is One Hour)
7. Procedure:
Surface where putty is to be applied shall be thoroughly cleaned with wire brush or grinder and made free from slurry droppings loose material.
All RCC members and plastered surface should be properly dampened prior to putty application.
Using putty blade apply the first coat evenly to the substrate with enough pressure to ensure tight contact.
First coat should not be more than 1.50 mm in thickness.
Cure the surface for one day, second coat shall be applied next day to finish the surface.
Thickness of second shall not exceed 1.50 mm.
