Civil Engineer working as Site Engineer should know this basic execution works

To excel in the filed of site engineering , the site engineer has to be mastered in the following subjects:-

The site engineer should be well conversant with construction materials testing processes as enumerated below:
In the field of concrete he should be capable of doing/checking the Slump test, compression test, split tensile test, soundness of materials.
In the filed of Soil Testing procedure he should be conversant with the Core cutter test, compaction test, sand replacement test, tri-axial test, consolidation test etc.
For inspection of the Bitumen he should be aware of Ductility test, softening point test, gravity test, penetration test etc.
Handling of survey instruments, he should be aware of the procedure of setting the following instruments such as total station, theodolite, auto level and dumpy level etc.

Preparation of bar bending Schedule:
Bar bending schedule is the essential subject for all civil engineer through which the reinforcement calculation prepared for for reinforced concrete members such as beam, column, slab etc. In this methodology the details of reinforcement cutting length, type of bends and bend length.and the quantity of reinforcement required is prepared by using the bar bending schedule.

Preparation and certification of bills:
A civil engineer is liable to prepare estimate and bills for a construction project.

Understanding the Standard codes for construction works:
A Civil engineer should be familiar with the codes of their own countries for construction projects. In India it is I.S.codes, in Europe B.S.codes and in various countries American Standards.

Knowledge of Drawing and design:
An engineer should have comprehensive and adequate knowledge with drawing and design as it is considered as the basis of any civil engineering projects.

Project field activities:
A civil engineer must have clear understanding ,working methodology, material requirement regarding concreting, form-work ,brick, work plaster and other activities inclusive of mode of measurement etc.

Analyzing soil:
A civil engineer must be aware of various soil testing methods to find out the settlement and stability of soils prior to commence a construction project.

Quality Control:
A civil engineer should possess comprehensive knowledge of quality control so that extra burden of hiring additional staff can b minimised.

Coordination with Labour:
A civil engineer should know l how to utilize the labor at the project site depending upon the category throughout construction work.

Co-ordination with the Senior Staff and Management Team :
it is vital subject an engineer has to be well conversant for his future growth and career upswing.
