How can I become successful in civil engineering field?

By doing value additions to the work you do, you can become a successful civil engineer.
Simply standing at field and making money, wont make anybody as a successful engineer. Understanding the things and making improvement in it will make your way to go up and sit in the top management.
Making improvements is not an easy task, it need to face a lot of resistance from the peoples around you, because accepting the change is not yet a habit of human behavior and it believes in the proven things over a long period of time (experience).
If somehow, there is no resistance, your idea get accepted and implemented at work. if its fail, there will be huge amount of resistance to what you do.
To make an improvements, best approach is to start with small tiny improvements in works / process / habits of human behavior which will lead to a positive change and on one day those little improvements will make an ocean of big improvements.
Improvements done in a process will lead to a value addition to a project where you work.
