If there are no cracks in the slab, there is no need to do any kind of treatment on it.
To provide additional layer of protection from leakages and dampness, waterproofing is done mostly now a days.

Sunk is required in case when you want to run concealed drainage lines through it and which to be filled with light weight material and waste like brick bat.

When there is no sunk the all plumbing lines will run from the below of the slab which will be visible in below floor if there is no false ceiling is done.

In cases of flat slabs, following types of waterproofing is preferred;

1. Chemical Waterproofing
2. Membrane Waterproofing (bitumen)

It is must to ensure there is no leakage from the slab before starting waterproofing treatment on it, if leakages are observed, it should be corrected by opening cracks in v grooves and sealing it, doing pressure grouting on sealed cracks through sockets and also in areas where dampness were observed.

If leakages or dampness not rectified before waterproofing, this might cause an issue of leakage in later stage.

in sunken Toilet provide membrane waterproofing. i think kemprol System which is best Treatment for sunken area.
I Throught membrane waterproofing is better than that of chemical waterproofing.and also as per my point of view membrane waterproofing shows a best result.
