How to calculate area of all types of paver block?

My dear friend,

Please remember that all civil works in India are governed by IS codes and for your query, you will need to refer IS 1200-11-METHOD OF MEASUREMENT OF BUILDING AND CIVIL ENGINEERING WORKS PART XI PAVING, FLOOR FINISHES, DADO AND SKIRTING.

So the area of measurement will be either Sq.m or Sq.ft. There is no other method of measurement.

As regards to calculating the no of paver blocks per sq.ft/sq.m again will depend on the type of paver blocks you are going to use.

Paver blocks are classified based on their shapes and type of bonds being used for fixing of the paver blocks.

A zig zag paver block of o/o measurement will be approx 4" x 8" so about 450 nos required per 100 sq.ft and if you consider size in metric which is generally 100mm x 200mm then 464.50 nos will be required for 100 sq.ft.

How did you get that see working below:

  1. Calculate area of one block so if you are calculating in sq.ft it will be 4"/12" x 8"/12"=0.33333333x0.66666667=0.22222222 sq.ft so for 100 sqft = 100/0.22222222= 450.00 nos approx , plus you will need to consider wastage based on the pattern of laying the pavers.
  2. Now if you are going to use the metric scale then the quantity will be more, here the calculation will be as follows: consider the size of block as 100mm x 200mm so the area of one block will be 0.02 sqm so for 100 sqft which is 9.29 sqm no of blocks would be 9.29/0.02=464.51 pieces approx, plus you will need to consider wastage based on the pattern of laying the pavers.

Hope that your query is resolved..... :)

thanks a lot sir,
but by plotting a paver block diagram on plain paper , how to calculate area?

You can divide the plotted sketch on paper in identifiable shapes and add up the area of all that shapes to find the area of that paver block.

You can also use a planimeter to measure the area of that shape sketch.

and there are many ways to measure its dimension and getting its area, physically as well as virtually via softwares like Autocad.
