There are two types of construction joints.
In horizontal direction - comes in column and wall
they need to be made rough by removing laitance from top of concrete or by inserting 20mm aggregates half way into the fresh concrete surface.
Or can be done by removing laitance by water jet, when concrete starts setting initially.
or can be done by making shear keys in the concrete surface.
In vertical direction - comes in slabs and beams etc.
Should be in a form of key
