I have never done reinforced walls. the purpose of putting the horizontal reinforcement in walls is to increase its lateral stability in most of the cases. can also be utilized for controlling unequal settlement due to not suitable strata.
It enhance the earthquake resistance of the building and suitable in earthquake prone areas.
