question on concrete

please what is the current characteristics strength of concrete with mix ratio 1:2:4 using cement grade of 42.5N and 20mm aggregate? thanks

Mix ratio 1:2:4 = Cement:Sand:Gravel, not include water. Concrete strength is depend on W/C, A/C. Water Cement Ratio is Chief factor on Concrete strength.

IS 456-2000 has designated the concrete mixes into a number of grades as M10, M15, M20, M25, M30, M35, M40 and so on....

In this designation, the letter M refers to the mix and the number to the specified 28-day cube strength of mix in N/mm2.

Attaching below a table containing the various compressive strength at 28 days.

What's fineness modulus?
It tells whether your aggregate are fine or coasre
For fine aggregate
FM 2.2 to 3.2
And for coarse aggregate
FM 6 to 7

Actually, characteristics strength will depend on various factors like quality of material, different properties of material and other condition.
But as per nomimal mix, characteristic strength will be 15 N/mm2 for 1:2:4.
