What are the effect of sea water on concrete strength?

One that i know is alkali aggregates reactivity which leads to erosion of concrete and may lead to corrosion of reinforcement too.

Erosion of concrete is most dangerous like corrosion of reinforcement which makes concrete weaker.

GGBS is used in concrete at higher ratios and mostly specified by consultant for all coastal area projects. because it improves the concrete resistance against alkali aggregate reactivity and alkali attack on concrete to a great extent which leads to more durable concrete.

So for projects in coastal area, GGBS should be added in concrete without fail to ensure long life of structure.
