What happens when sugar is added to concrete?

Anything in known quantum can be controlled or modified.
the water which you will use to produce a concrete does not guarantee the same amount or level of sugar in it for all time (in case if it has sugar content).
There is as such no harm to design concrete with such water but when there is change in properties, the results of produce concrete will change more drastically and can even lead to failures, so it is better to use potable water and modify the properties of concrete by using ingredients which you can control instead of anticipating presence of them in water used to produce will help in getting always positive results.

Producing a concrete or designing of same is a responsible task and not the casual activity. it is purely base on the calculations and determination which will always give the desired output at the end of the day.

Thanks for your elaboration Sir by the way this case depends on the sugar content present in water less or more amount...!! ❤️👍❤️ But from seniors i heard that sugar decrease the strength of Concrete upto 4% but increase the setting time.

It is always better to be more practical and do trials before doing actual concrete production post completion of concrete mix designing procedure.
We were theoretically coming to some conclusion base on some assumptions, so theory need to be tested and finetuned or mass tuned to achieve desired / intended results.

The properties of materials and environmental conditions differs from place to place, so its always better to do trials and conclude.

As i have never used sugar directly to produce the concrete (admixtures are cheaper than sugar) i can not say anything about how much it will impact on properties of concrete.
