What is difference between absorption and adsorption

materials are made up of molecules of atoms. during formation of material there might be some voids created inside it from microscopic level to an inch in diameter.

When we put the material inside a water, the water penetrate into those voids and fill all voids.

The water which goes inside of the material is called as absorbed water.

After reaching the saturation levels of voids, the material wont take anymore water inside of it and we often see a layer of water coated / created on surface of material this water which stuck with material on surface is called adsorb water.
