it should be 400 mm all around and 600 mm where sump is located which was mentioned in is codes before 82. as nowadays the contract says mean dimension only to be paid. check out before starting the job

Classification as per code and cpwd as follows
1.the soil can be excavated with spade is soil
2 the soil which can be excavated is called hard murrum or soft rock
3 the soil excavated with the help of drilling machine. Poclain ripper or blasting known is hard rock

Sir. is there any Rule / Spec in engineering field for working Space payment during excavation .

what is the stranded working space during excavation in different types of material (Road & Buliding)

Please check IS 1200- Clause 4.2.5.1, It is 600 mm working space if not mentioned in spec or contract.

As per is code-1200, working space is 600mm .But As per cpwd it is depend on depth, for more than 1.5meter height Maximum-750mm working space is taken .For water tank and other structure working space is mentation in drawing.
