Compressive strength of the concrete is calculated as Load / Area

So when the area get reduce, required load for failure of cube is also get reduce.

When area of cube increases, the required load for failure of cube is also increases.

You might record load taken by cube before failure, less in cube size of 100 mm but compressive strength is Load / Area, so the cube size wont make any difference unless you go for very high grade concretes.

When we go far higher grades of concrete, we choose smaller cube size just to ensure loads required for testing of cube can be applied with available cube testing machine.
