Why do we put steel in concrete for construction?

Concrete is weaker in tension, structure induces various forces and concrete fails under the tension mostly.\

Steel have closest expansion and contraction point with concrete.

Steel takes high amount of tensile load. So steel is used in concrete and it becomes composite members and acts without getting any damages to it.

Actually the normal pcc concrete strong in compression and weak in tension Zones but in same zone steel have opposite function like steel strong in tension week in compression zone so without steel the pcc concrete con't stand stable
Sometimes fiber also add for increase concrete tension zone strength ( Rft concrete pouring time)
