why clay wall tiles are burnt at low temperature?

Clay wall tiles are heated at 1200 + degree and normally called as ceramic tiles.

Ceramic tiles are made by compressing the clay / soil at low pressure to form a porosity which helps in bonding of tile with wall surface.
