    you need to lubricate pipeline before start of the concrete so you can either use a slurry or ready made lubricant available in market which are also cheaper than producing slurry. Cost incurred due to slurry will be always negligible when comparing to make a concrete like slurry (SSC - self compacting)

    Dear Sir,

    One of our client asked the ratio for cylinder/cube is 0.8 in harden concrete after 28 days. But in is 456 cylinder/ cube ratio for core sample is 0.8.but as per ASTM, ACI for higher grade minimum cylinder strength should be Fck of the design. Is there any reference for ratio 0.8 or it is compulsory cylinder/ cube 0.8 is must?

    The carried load by a cube and cylinder varies for same grade due to height. you can make a concrete and cast few cubes and few cylinders and then do comparative testing for minimum 30 trials. You will arrive to something similar.

    All materials do have voids in it, calculation of specific gravity do take long time when the material goes denser with less voids.

    Apparent specific gravity is the one which is calculated without reducing the volume of voids.

    Specific gravity is calculated using pycnometer bottle.

    To calculate exact specific gravity, say for aggregates, one need to make aggregate in SSD condition by immersing them in water for at-least 24 hours before test.

    To prepare ITP you need to have the detailed specifications of your project and requirements along with IS codes. You can then freeze the methods, frequency and parameters for each material / process. you can find sample ITP in Quality section at forum. explaining requires a big article to be written. will try to write an article on how to prepare ITP in future.

    ITP stands for inspection and test plan which is a document which had plans for doing testing at site and at third party labs - it defines frequencies of test, test to be conducted and acceptance limits along with referred specs and codes.
    QC report stands for Quality Control Reports which consist of reports which are made to assure quality as per QAP.

    Yes, there is specification for welding of reinforcement bars, refer para / clause 12.4 in IS 456.

    The method and specifications are given in IS 9417 and in IS 2751.

    In your case refer IS 9417.

    Additionally you can take the procedure for same from your Structural Consultant.

    As it is semi wet state, preferred trial at factory with actual mould and machine cast. Ingredients are Cement, Fly ash(Optional), Crusher sand, 6MM aggregate(Optional), water, admixture and on top colour pigment (If required). We cannot surely tell the mix batch weight, unless ingredients properties known to us. The texture, shape, demoulding time, abrasion resistance need to be ensured.
