In general, door height is 7 feet's or 2.1 meters.

Beams are plan in walling area.
So in most of cases beams comes above wall.

There are some places where beams are not provided, wall touches to slab.

In those cases or when the wall height is more than door opening height, lintel is casted above opening.

Methode of casting lintel;

When door frame is fixed during brick or blockwork, lintel is casted above horizontal member of door.

When door frames to be fixed in later stage, lintel is casted by doing shuttering work.
Or pre-cast linyels are placed above opening.

Lintel consist of nominal reinforcement steel bar and lean concrete.

Lintel should ovelap wall beyond opening area at least by 6 inches in case of opeing up to 1 meter.

When the opeing is to be provided for door, lintel helps you to build wall above lintel area.

Lintel transfer the loads of above wall to wall area and keep door frames and shutter safe.

How to save cost
Make moulds and rebar ready for casting lintel, when during concrete, concrete get waste due to pump chockup or at the time of ball pass or quantity remain which is over ordered by mistake.

Use that concrete to cast lintels and save money.

Reinforcement steel bars - use scrap bars to cast lintel, it will help you to reduce scrap and save money.

Ensure all lintels are cured well otherwise it become waste of money.
