How much maximum allowable height of column without any brace or tie for 230mm wide column & 300mm wide column

concrete cannot be dropped from more than 2 m height.now u can calculate what is the height of farm work.tgese things has been taught in first year engineering.better refresh your engineering before. asking such crazy questions

It depends on the pressure of concrete which comes on formwork. The pressuere of concrete is like water pressure under gravity.

It will be more at bottom and nil at top.

You need to calculate pressure and the properties of formwork you are using.

Generally bracing is provided at 2 feet height in form of tie rods or walers.

Apart from this to avoid bending of shutter in case of plywood conventional system, primary members generally 4 inch wide and 1 inch thick are placed on plywood external face at 1 feet or 2 feet center to center depending on pressure.

Generally in 12mm plywood shutters primary members are placed at 1 feet center to center for avaoiding bending of forms.

Secondary members in case you have not designed formwork system and using conventional formwork - 2 feet center to center (secondary members can be tie rods, walers, Acro spans, channel sections etc)

Dear Ashok

Question is not clear, do you ask procedure and system of form work or placing of concrete not clear.
if yes, you got the reply.

But if you are asking about structural feasibility of column then the answer is we have to check slenderness ration of column for design load and length.

If the column size is 230 X 300 (VERY SMALL SIZE) yes this may require tie at @ 3.00 meter
