What is slump

A measurement of workability of concrete.

How the workability of concrete is increased or decreased

by adding or reducing water.

By addition of admixture.

What admixture does more than a what water do.

Admixture increases the workability and reduces the water requirement.

Increased workability by admixture last long - called as retention time.

During the retention period concrete either keep same flow (mostly in case of high range PC based admixtures) or the flow / workability will drop in aggreed manner.

There is no relation between height of work and workability to decreased or increased on their own.

the relation might be something like - if there is more height and number of bends in pipes are more then your concrete should have xyz mm slump to ensure pumping of concrete to desired location.

Loss of slump / workability might observed at places where leakages seen in concrete pipeline. (So if you have bad pipeline, to ensure the correct slump at site and doing pumping, you might need to increase the slump by more than desired at pumping location)
