What is the best standard equipment to always have with you on the construction site?

If you are looking for ideas on what tools you, as a construction engineer, should have with you while you are on-site, check out this post - This is a rundown on what a 30-year construction engineering industry veteran caries. You can never have enough tools!! How many of these tools do you already have? And, what tools do you need to add to your toolbox so that you have what you need when duty calls....??? Cheers!!!!

As an Engineer, when we work at a site, we should have following equipment available with us in a waist pouch or in a bag;

1. Measuring Tape of at least 5 meter length and 20mm wide of standard companies like Freeman - this helps in taking measurement of length, width and height etc during inspection of activities at site and when we get doubt about something is done wrong.

2. Try Square / Right Angle of at least 6" long - useful to check the right angles at wall corners and in other finish products.

3. Spirit Level of 6" long - useful for measuring the level of surface and slope of surface.

4. Plumb Bob - useful for measuring verticality / plumb of an elements.

5. Line thread - useful for checking line of elements.

6. Pocket Calculator - for doing calculations of work.

7. Note pad - for recording anything you observed during supervising the works.

Without the tools, when we visit the site for doing inspection of activities which are progressing, there may be a chance, you need a tool to do some measurements and tool is not available with anyone at current location. it will lead to non checking and forgetting about what you observed when you moves to next block or floor.

Above listed are basic tools which must be available with Engineer or supervisor who works at construction site.

You may use highly advance tool for recording of data and which comes handy and can be fit into your pocket / bag / pouch.
